26% of black people spend time in the countryside, compared to forty four % of white people. Rural populations are 98%. People of color make up only one percent of visitors to national parks. And it's not like this is hidden. It's visible to anyone with their eyes open. There is also the thing of representation. So if you don't see yourself in an activity, why would you do it?
