The Moon's Exosphere and Its Tail

When the moon is between the earth and the sun, the earth is in the moon's tail. We're like eating the moon's sodium dust. Do we retain any of it or does it just pass through? But again, these are very, very small amounts. The reason it took us a long time to even spot it was like 1998 that we first saw the moon's like sodium envelope in this tail.
