The Parable of the Wife and the Unrighteous Judge
He told them a parable to the effect that they ought always to pray and not lose heart. Remember Lot's wife. Whoever seeks to gain his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life will preserve it. He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous and despised others. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself: God, I thank you that I am not like other men,. extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector.
