Beazid and Mehmet's Conflicts
Beazid had clashed with his father before and he stood to gain the most from his death. Beazid was deeply religious, a patron of Sufi brotherhoods and mystic dervishes. Mehmet lived for conquest and spent practically his whole life on campaign but Beazid disliked war. The frontier warlords, sidelined by Mehmet's increasingly powerful centralized state, backed Beazid.
