The Effect of Mindfulness on Stress

Nina's immune system at the end of the eight weeks was actually weaker than it had been when she started meditating. It could have been that the chronic stress she and some of the other participants experienced was simply too much for this kind of intervention to have any effect. Nina now regularly incorporates some of the exercises she learned during the trial which all chimes with what professor Richard Davidson says don't expect a quick fix. The kinds of practices that we're talking about are fundamentally designed to produce more enduring change.
