The Security Issues With SMS Two Factor for Twitter
Twitter could lose Section 230 immunity if it amplifies content more than any other user. SMS two factor is not great from a security perspective, but Twitter should move on to different kinds of two factor immediately and stop credential stuffing attacks. The cost of delivering an SMS is something like twice the cost of getting data down from the Hubble Space Telescope,. On a per byte basis? Yes.
