We read the 1997 classic, Varsgmal, a manifesto on Norwegian cultural destiny written by the infamous Norwegian black metal artist, Varg Vikernes. Varg was the bass guitarist for Mayhem, one of the most influential bands in the black metal genre, on their first album before he murdered his bandmate, Euronymous. In addition to the murder of Euronymous, Varg was also convicted for the burning of several Christian churches. Whilst in prison, Varg produced music under the name Burzum and wrote this manifesto, Vargsmal, exploring Norwegian race politics, national destiny and advocating the return to pre-Christian heathen culture.
