Does Collectivity Have to Do With Democracy?

I have nothing against solitude or people wanting to be alone. We all need to tell stories about ourselves to feel good about ourselves. But they'reare precious for us to steer us away from that into always the individual working on their own marketable selves, presenting themselves in the world where we'll get some high rating. So why we need a sense of collectivity is that i think we easily become isolated. And it's not that we should want to be just somebody ourselves, but we want to feel that at least our lives matter to other people and other people's lives matter to us.
