Avoidant Attachment and Relational Distance

Someone who grows up into adulthood with avoidant attachment is often going to be very disconnected from their emotions. They couldn't bear to feel their need for relational connection and then be dismissed or rejected yet again. And so your fundamental experience of life is that of an orphan because no one was ever there for you. I am alone in this world. And if my needs are going to be met, I have to meet them on my own. That's avoidant attachment.
