Nearly 95% of all the food eaten in Hawaii comes from elsewhere. If you have a tree like this at breadfruit you go into your backyard and it's there for you. This is part of the whole shift we talked about in our Tarot episode. Once Europeans arrived in Hawaii they took the land and water and used it for plantation crops, not the traditional foods that had made the island self-sufficient.
