The Cultural Shock of the South in the 1920s
Sally Kohn: African Americans migrating to the cities themselves, they brought kind of an interesting culture with them. She says it lay the foundation for the whole jazz era that took off in the 1920s. Chicago was a hub for ossophy, the 1893 World Fair, the Theosophical Society and so forth. It also brought an over a lot of the gurus and so forth from India.Kohn: You get a little bit of these movies, I'm really not a fan of these movies but you do get a sense of what people used to be like.
