Bain Capital - What Are the Types of Multiples You Remember Paying Back Then?
One of my first deals that I do a lot of healthcare investing and there was a business that a company called Baxter Healthcare, a big healthcare company owned a lot of different divisions. We negotiated a carve out three times even thought at that time, which obviously today the diagnostic world things traded 15 to 20 times. The sellers in this case had $200 million of preferred on a business that was losing $50 million. And they asked us to put up some money, at least to show that we had some risk capital. It's a great deal because it had shown at the time that we could do what we wanted to do, which is understand industry and dislocation.
