The Power of Negative Emotions in Conversations
The ability to process and think clearly is impeded by negative emotions. If I don't approach these conversations, assuming that the person I'm talking to has a world view different than mine, yep, I am a threat. There's a real famous hostage taking in Sacramento, California back in the early 90s where this band of Vietnamese gangsters took over an electronics store. Part of their demand was we want the route of a thousand year old ginseng tree and we want a true helicopter fueled up to fly us to Vietnam.
