The US Tested the Hydrogen Bomb on March 1, 1954

The US was able to test the hydrogen bomb on March 1, 1954. This bomb produced a fireball four and a half miles in diameter. Nearly 7,000 square miles of the Pacific Ocean were contaminated. The Japanese fishing vessel who happened to be in the direct proximity of this blast started showing signs of radiation poisoning shortly after returning to shore.
