It had been forty five years since johann rice's first attempts at transmitting a voice electronically without wires. Fesidon's broadcast was the first attempt at instant mass communication. Songs, news, politics and sporting events could all be transmitted in real time to large audiences. It wouldn't be until world war on when developments of radio for military communications began to be considered for consumer use. And it was then that an inquisitive boy in philadelphia decided to start repairing radios as a way to earn extra money for his family.
