The Metaphysical Status of Artifacts
From the metaphysical point of view, an artifact isn't a very deep kind of being. It's hardly more than a range of other beings. A football has four causes, but so does a cat and it's the cat that we really want to focus on. Not caring about the difference between artifacts and natural objects is extremely common in contemporary philosophy. If you want to give same account for both, you have to earn that. You can't just take it for granted.
