The Effect of Insulin on Inflammatory Stress in Inflammation

Insulin suppresses PCSK9, which itself is an inhibitor of the LDL receptor. But insulin also acts on thyroid cells to produce more thyroid hormone. It mimics a portion of the signaling carried out by TSH so that it increases thyroid hormone production independently of the hypothalamic pituitary thyroidylaxis. If you have less production of T4 and less conversion of T4 to T3 in the rest of the body, what you're going to see is a drop in T3.
