The Evolutionary Pathway to Crocodile Hemoglobin

Crocodiles are the only animals that can hold their breath for a long time. Scientists were able to reverse engineer the hemoglobin of crocodile ancestors and their common ancestor with birds. They found it could take as many as 20 mutations to make this happen. It also makes you wonder like which came first, the chicken or the egg?
