The Pros and Cons of AI Relationships

Is it really so strange to have intimate relations with AI technologies? I mean, many already have this sort of caring relation with other objects. It seems to me that to live within a network of objects predicated more on a relationship of care would be better than one predicated purely on cold functionality and expediency.
