The Roman Mithra: A Religious Culture
Roman Mithraism was a religious culture in its own right. It evolved itself into being part of the Roman pantheon of religions. What we know of Mithra in the original Iranian religion, the whole structure of the theology and gods and goddesses are completely different. So we can see from that that there is a clear difference. This is a prime example of the Romans borrowing and moulding it for their own reasons and their own purposes.
