Recording - The Greatest Wave of Emigration to the United States
The first decade of the twentieth century is the single largest wave of emigration to the united states in our history. A thousand people a day at that point are arriving just through one port, just through ellis island. And thereby also happend to be some of the biggest record companies in the us. They sent staffers on trips around the world to ar gather and record music that they'd then try and sell to immigrants from those countries back home in america.
