The gnostics were going beyond to the ultimate place of reality and non reality. They carried the caduses down into the underworld, they had to meet persephone,. Then they met cronos and had to defeat her. And then they went up with jesus, and they went through the constellation draco. So it was very detailed with the nessenes, the fians, the paratics. The hermitic texts are, of course, amazing astral maps too.
