The Importance of Notifying the Local Authorities
Law was put in place after the French Revolution that forbid owners of French shops from going on holidays without notifying local authorities first. They also had to put up notices of their holiday in the window and give the name of the nearest rival bread shop so customers could go there. The law was scrapped in 2015 as part of a crackdown on red tape. But did they continue to adhere to the rules like well into the 20th and 21st century?
