Is the Washing Machine Really a Transformational Technology?

The washing machine is a great example, because i think it's absolutely true. It was generally accepted that it was one to two full days work every week to wash the linen and laundry of a moderately sized family,. like an er ye. And indeed, the necessity of paying servants to do your washing for you were really, they were absolutely definitive features of everyday life for people of all social classes. But who has ended up fully benefiting from that? The women and other people have been liberated from the drudgery of laundry, but mostly so they can then have their labour power exploited by somebody else. I wouldn't go as far as bodily filth.
