The Importance of Talk Therapy in Quitting Smoking

In the 1960s smoking still wasn't really considered a big problem even. Matt Johnson had come up with this idea to study specifically cigarette smokers because nobody had done it yet. And so that early work really suggested that this could be a feasible type of intervention for substance use disorders. It's an area where we still struggle today. I'm working right now in an article called Splitting the Adam of Addiction and it's really about thinking about how do we help people deal with this?
