You talk about these three components of desire, self-determination and inspirational foreshadowing. Can you expand on those? Well, to me, what desire gives us fundamentally is agency over our own lives. It doesn't mean we get everything we want. Nobody does. And it doesn't mean that everything's going to work out the way we want either. But if I can at least own even the simplest things, like, wow, I actually don't want anything for lunch that is in the refrigerator.
