Do You Have a Job in the Military?
The Army is arguably the most hierarchical organization in American life. The culture, the mythos, the narrative that's driving one's head is not hierarchical in that same sense. So I think that was one of my epiphanies as a rough director. My job was to find things that were broken and point them out to people.
