John Wickliffe was in Oxford translating the Bible from Latin into English. For that he was excommunicated by the Church of his time as a heretic. His corpse was burned along with his life's work, scattered together in the River Swift. Today you can walk across the central lobby of London's Houses of Parliament and find Psalm 127 inscribed right there on the floor.
