How Long Does It Take to Learn to Trade?

When he first started it, the idea definitely wasn't let's completely take over my trading with Algo's. The idea was to just find something that can average a couple percent per trade and just kind of slowly grow that. But then I really underestimated the reality of slippage. And if you have spouse involved, like making sure they're on the same page, all that can be very difficult.
