Nietzsche's Theogenous of Magara

Theogenous was a social class that pre-socrates still lived in that world of myth and ritual. He saw no impiety in writing poems about the joy of lovemaking and drinking, he writes. But unlike Socrates or Plato, he doesn't oppose poetry for this danger, but he practices it himself. And so Theogenous that we get in popular scholarship is according to Nietzsche as a sort of a warped figure.
