The Problems With the Collectivization of Agriculture
Urban workers were sent into the countryside to help set up collective farms. They would often also be the ones making decisions on those collective farms. The 1,000ers brought incense and tachanism with them into the countryside. This then shifted the 1000ers from advocating for the collective farms through ideology to being the face of forced collectivization. Local leaders were at times arrested, again to prevent any kind of organized resistance.
