The History of Conjured Sound
In the fifties and sixties there was no such thing as a proper concert sound system. All most people had was a combination mixramp powering two p a columns on either side of the stage, each containing 12 inch speakers. The beach ys were one of the first to try to do something about it by building what would become the first large scale sound system for use in a rock concert environment. This explains the surge in the popularity of the sax phone, which could be heard above the din. It also addresses drummers and the structural changes to their kits.
