CHAPTER

The Denigration of Black Body

The idea that intellectualism and stoicism and distance from the carnal body is what we choose. Like grief and love and sadness and anger are not cool because we don't see them as clean or in control like our, our philosophy,. Our selfhood is very much built around this idea of an agentic person in control. But anger and grief are not about control. You know, they actually highlight the ways in which we are not in control. And I would say too that everything that you just described, the denigration of black bodies, the denigrating of brown bodies, thedenigration of women's bodies was a form of terror management.
