The Dog Adoption Problem in the US
More than 3 million dogs every year enter a shelter in the US. Only about half of those actually find a new home and get adopted. A woman called Lori Weiss who runs a rescue organization in South L.A. started what's called a shelter intervention program that basically works like this. All they would do is go up and ask, if you could, would you like to keep your animal? And if they said yes, they would try to fix whatever,. help them fix the problem that made them turn over this.
