The State of the Union

Every single person in the federal government wants to get their programme or policy included in the state of the union. The president would not look at the first draft, cause he was in hawaii on vacation. And my job a a speech writer would be trying to keep as much extra clutter out of the speech and keep it moving so that at least we could get it around the hour mark. Usually we try to go under the hour.
