The Verilux is more like a midday light based on what you've described, a more blue, white color. The red panels are much safer because they're just basically hooking you up with specific frequencies that have been shown to improve the mitochondria as long as the panels don't have tons of flicker. But if you can go outside and have your skin exposed to the full spectrum of the sun, I would 100% 10 times out of 10 pick it over any artificial setup.
