Can the Fed Fight Inflation Without Destabilizing the Financial System?
The Fed has underpinned the deep left tail, but they are still here to bring down demand in the market. There's a difference between buying deltas or buying the market by selling out of the money puts or buying stock. Those things have very different structural effects and operate in different dimensions of distribution. They can do both and they are attempting to do both that is part of what the vol is dampened like it has.
