"The transition is over. We are here in a subscription world for almost everything," Apple's Tim Cook says. "I'm really, really pleased with that the response seems to be pretty, pretty good." The company has been inundated with calls from people who want its app free but fear they'll have to pay if it doesn't become available as an ad-free version of iOS or OS X. It will take some time before everyone gets used to this new way of thinking about paid apps and how we use our software.
