Is There a Level of Pluralism?
We're more likely to find some sort of peace or harmony if we're united by the idea that a certain level of pluralism is an ought to be permissible. This was an insight from the enlightenment that I don't think has really changed all that much. Ahimsa in the Eastern and the Vedic traditions is the idea of not harming others, not initiating harm. It doesn't say you can't defend yourself. And we practice this non harm and thought word indeed. That seems pretty basic to our moral outlook.
