Transpointing Windows

The creators of Unix at some point worked on an OS that almost had the metaphors that John was talking about earlier, which is Plan 9. It's so bizarre that we still do not have what that now is called Transpointing Windows - a link that goes out of the window region into another window to point at a piece of content. Like, it should be a basic stuff in every OS and every app.
