Can Conlangers Play With Obviation?
Most of what we know about how obviation works is based on Algonquin languages. So, to me, there's a question in my mind of could conlangers sort of play with this thing and see whether you can fit an obviation system into a language that doesn't have the direct inverse thing. There are other languages that have pretty sophisticated direct inverse systems that don't appear to have obviation.
