Zeno's Sense of Place
The city of Athens was founded by greeks from the greek mainland at some point. It seems to have been quite an intellectual cen in particular, because ar, i think, one of the most important people in zeno's intellectual life was a charactor called palmenides. Palmenides wrote a very peculiar poem in hexameter verse, in the style of homer. And he attempted to set out to prove that there was only one thing, and that was changeless and motionless and perfect. So whatever else you think there is, if it's not this one thing, that isn't actually there.
