A lot of startup struggle with the tension between casting a wide net for product market fit and selecting your market first. The more you can make some difficult decisions upfront, you at least are scoping your research effectively. For all that I talked about how important it is to really broadly understand the problem space, the thing that makes that digestible and useful is when you've already identified a group of people with something in common that you want to work with.
