Scientists in Australia have been playing back calls made by rare animals. They are trying to understand how sound moves through the environment of bonia. The scientists were pretending to be gibbons so that they could record their callbacks. It's not clear if it is ethical, but there can be some good reasons for doing it - and a lot of utility.
