The US is looking relatively strong now, says Peggy Drexler. But it does mean that there will be further interest rate rises in the U.S., she adds. The fact that most Americans had a job seemed to put them in a better state when they went to the ballot box and some of the social and cultural issues were also on their minds. If next year in 2023 we do actually see some of the feds jacking up of interest rates, then you might see voters have more of a reaction at the ballot box against the Biden administration.
