The Forum of Theodosius

At the centre of the forum was a huge column, with a statue of Constantine on top. The stump of this huge structure still stands today, known as the burnt column. Across the forum were the bakers and slave dealers, and then another few hundred metres on was the forum of Theodosius. Self-consciously modelled on the forum of Trajan in Rome, there was a spiral column to mark Theodosian's victories over the Goths.
