Luigi Galvani, who would go on to invent the battery and protovolta, had a radical idea: Could what stimulates our bodies to move and think be electrical in nature? People really hated this idea. Volta thought the only reason that the frog's legs that Galvani famously made twitch after death is because of whatever metal contact he was putting into them.
