Having Second Jobs in Parliament Is a Good Thing, Right?
There is no specific job description for being a member of parliament. If you were lucky enough to get a safe seat, like sir geoffrey o or actually, like the newly departed owen patterson, well then, you know, you're at quite a lot of liberty to spend your time as you want. Other people would argue that actually, m ps having second jobs can be a really good thing. It means, for example, if you've got m p, you do shifts in the n h s, or youre going to have a better informed debate about the health service in the house of commons. But it's tricky.
