The Snooze War During the Civil War
During the Civil War, soldiers died of yellow fever by the thousands. An estimated 3,000 troops were left alive at the end of the ordeal with over 50,000 of their comrades killed by the illness. Napoleon signed away Louisiana, stating that he could in no way afford a campaign against the U.S. all because of yellow fever.
