The Wealth of the Romans in the Early Republic

The richest 1% of Romans during the early republic was only 10 to 20 times as wealthy as the average Roman citizen. The land-holding plebeian class formed this middle class and they prospered under these conditions. There wasn't a massive, like, propertyless people that were fomenting social unrest. So there was this possibility for the sense of solidarity felt between even the senatorial class and the common people.
